Here’s where to find the best burgers in Brisbane

Much has been said about the burger scenes in Sydney and Melbourne, but anyone who has been up coast would find it hard to overlook Brisbane when considering Australia’s finest. We’ve tasted some pretty incredible burgers and now we’re delivering to you our five favourites, in no particular order. Not all of them are cheeseburgers, mind you, but all of them are delicious.

FaB Fish and Burger Grill

These burgers are so damn good! Tremendously filling, and the best thing? They don’t fall apart! Keep things simple with the Number 1 – you can’t go wrong there – but as the name suggests, their fish burger, the excellently named “Wanda”, is a hit as well.

Flying Cock

There are few burgers as delicious nor as gluttonous in Brisbane as the Bacon Double Cheeseburger ($18) from the Flying Cock in Fortitude Valley. Those not feeling quite that hungry can just go for the straight Cheeseburger ($15) which is pretty close to perfection, brioche bun, pickles and all. Served with a healthy dose of fries, of course. And going by their name, you can probably tell their chicken burgers are pretty damn good as well.

Lucky Egg

Located at The Brightside, the Lucky Egg has introduced us to one of the best chicken burgers in the city: The Buffalo Crispy ($12). with garlic pickles, cheddar cheese, spinach, mayo, buffalo sauce and a huge dose of buttermilk fried chicken, you simply can’t go wrong with this one.

Southside Diner

This classic American themed diner has a superb menu, and the hit of their impressive burger selection has to be the Cuyama Valley Double Double ($17.5), filled with two 150g meat patties with jalapeno cream cheese and iceberg lettuce on a sesame seed bun.

Ben’s Burgers

All you need is The Classic. Eat it. Savour it. Enjoy it.

Of course these are far from the only great burgers in Brisbane. It’s hard to look past Fatboys on a hangover (323 Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley), and Ribs and Burgers is a safe bet (39 James St, Fortitude Valley). Southside Tea Room also come in with an honourable mention with their Southside burger ($11 – 639 Wynnum Rd, Morningside).
