Nike Air VaporMax finally launches in Australia

Sneaker freakers and running junkies rejoice – seven years in the making, the Nike Air VaporMax has finally arrived. Landing this week in Australia, the shoe is now available to shop at Nike.com, Hype DC and Footlocker – and we’re sure these kicks will disappear pretty quickly. This year marks 30 years of the Nike Air Max – the original dropped in 1987 as the first shoe to showcase large, visible Air-cushioning – and for 2017, the VaporMax shakes things up with a new innovative design that boosts the sneaker’s performance, all while maintaining that iconic Air Max street style. So, what’s so special about these sneaks? It’s all in the make-up.

Nike takes it all back to the shoe’s running roots. Thanks to new technologies, they’ve developed an integrated midsole and outsole system that does away with the extra weight from their former ‘layer cake’ approach, and fulfills their promise of total Air. Weight and waste have been reduced, and flexibility and durability increased, with the shoe now incorporating the Air and exterior all into one sleek, stylish and durable beast. The Flyknit Upper keeps things lightweight, while the new Nike Air geometric system that combines the mid- and outsoles allows for extra air directly underfoot. You’ll be pretty much flying in these babies.

It looks like you may have missed your chance to snag a pair in the Pure Platinum/Wolf Grey/White colourway (at least from Nike.com), but never fear, the Nike Air VaporMax Asphalt colourway drops on April 27th. Ladies, luckily for you, you can still grab a pair in the Pure Platinum. Oh, and we should also mention that apparently only 400 have been released, so you’ll want to get your hands on these sneaks ASAP.

The new release is now available at Nike.com, Hype DC and Footlocker.
