Maui Jim add Tail Slide to their Australian collection ahead of summer

Long gone are the days when a cheap pair of sunnies from a local store could get you by. Unless they are for one-time use at a summer music festival, it’s quite a waste to be buying throwaway sunglasses every so often. With it now being very public knowledge that the benefits of a good pair of sunglasses stretch far beyond just blocking sun and reducing glare, the past few years have seen an increased interest in high-end eye wear with one such brand constantly bought to the top of conversations being Maui Jim.

The famed sunglasses brand from the Hawaiian Islands have one of the largest and most impressive ranges of the big name collections, boasting numerous styles that have remained regular favourites in go-to retail chains like Sunglasses Hut for years. They’ve recently built upon that range in a big way, perhaps launching one of their most exciting styles in some time with the Maui Jim Tail Slide, which has been designed towards the classic wayfarer with surfers in mind. They sit right next to the more youth-focused, fashion-friendly styles, one of the most striking additions defined by frosted crystal frames and blue flash mirror coating to help with colour enhancement, high contrast and clarity – features Maui Jim seem to be most proud of. Further to that, the Tail Slide makes use of SuperThin glass, which is 20% thinner and lighter than standard glass to help offer scratch and solvent resistant lenses.

Central to Maui Jim is the “PolarizedPlus2” lens tech that eliminate 99.9% of glare, positioning optical quality as one of the brand’s touchstones and a primary reason it is still considered some of the best value sunglasses on the market. Of course, the Tail Slide continues this central element of Maui Jim, bringing the collection another pair which doesn’t at all sacrifice on aesthetics for the often overlooked tech that both assists and protects the eyes from the likes of premature aging and cancer (they block 100% of harmful UV radiation).

While a style like Stillwater (pictured above) remains one of the most popular for Maui Jim in Australia, with many willing to fork out the Australian RRP of $409, the Tail Slide seem poised to enter a similar level of regard, especially since they are bit lighter on the wallet at an Australia RRP of $299.
