Converse and DC Comics release The Dark Knight sneakers

Converse have unveiled two retro comic designs in collaboration with DC Comics for the 30th anniversary of Frank Miller’s iconic The Dark Knight Returns. A collage of panels from the mid-60’s featuring Batman, Robin, and Catwoman define the new look Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 sneakers, apparently pulled straight from DC’s archives to illustrate a premium canvas upper with a huge pop of colour.

Strangely enough, the shoes don’t feature the DKR take on Batman, but there should be little complaint as your strutting around in these boss looking sneakers, which feature a Batman logo on the tongue and a rubber glow-in-the-dark collective hangtag. There’s even some archive work on the sock liner and an ice outsole with print underneath.

They were released a few days ago in the states but now Converse and DC Comics have brought the collaboration sneakers down under, where Aussies can order online at Converse’ Australian website or grab a pair at select stores across the country.

It’s but another piece of a long line of impressive collaborations released by Converse these past few years, and it looks like they’ve done well to recreate the vintage version of Batman (Catwoman is even wearing her pre-Newmar purple costume). The black on black sneakers are a bit less clear where all the specific features are concerned but as you can see from the texture having a swarm of bats surrounding the classic Converse Chuck Taylor logo adds an ultra-stylish touch to what would otherwise be just another superhero sneaker.

Australians can get there hands on The Fall 2016 Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 DC Comics Batman Collection from today at select stores around the country for an RRP of $150 and $160. You can either grab them from www.converse.com.au or head to Converse Melbourne Central, Converse Northland, or Converse Werribee.
