The Pullman luxury hotel chain has been a strong leader in Australia’s hospitality sector, with highlights in the last couple of years including the opening of their new location at Sydney airport and a sleek refurbishment of Pullman Quay Grand’s Quadrant restaurant now dubbed Q Dining. Led by Executive Chef Stefan Brademann (Bennelong, The Fat Duck) the restaurant’s spectacular location overlooking East Circular Quay and the Harbour Bridge is seconded only by its modern yet elegant theme of glass and steel, its suspended dome lights making it instantly recognisable.
Whilst the restaurant may appear formal, guests will find the friendly service, waterfront views and welcoming vibe quite relaxing. Partnered with a brand new menu drawing on the flavours and produce of autumn, utmost care, simplicity and freshness of ingredients are reflective in the dishes on offer.
Although only represented in two dishes seafood proves king, starting with Charred Octopus & scallop perfectly cooked and plated in harmony with salty miso and tangy grapefruit. Main of Rainbow trout set against the aniseed bite of caramelised fennel and the acidity of fresh capers is deceptively substantial as it is light. Clientele craving something more carnivorous will be delighted by the crispness of the Confit Duck leg and quince jelly or heartiness of tender Lamb Osso Bucco, sweet roasted baby carrots and crunchy balls of polenta soaking up a rich sauce.
To finish, a range of refreshing and decadent desserts are on hand from the tropical zing of charred pineapple, coconut sorbet and honey to an indulgent macadamia nougatine bound with silky chocolate ice-cream and crunchy milo, presented rather glamorously on a gold dusted dish.
Given the quality, ambience and iconic surrounds, Q Dining is an excellent option for affordable fine dining whether it be a pre-theatre meal before hitting the town or a long lazy Sunday lunch watching the ferries go by.
