Though it was released earlier this year, the Johnnie Walker 18 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky isn’t a new expression by any means. It’s merely a rebranded, renamed and reimagined Johnnie Walker Platinum Label. That choice fits the bottle in with the iconic brand’s other expressions a bit more seamlessly, sporting a stylish design and premium look that greatly reflects what’s found inside.... Mr Black Roasters & Distillers have grown immensely in the past few years, picking up quite a few awards along the way and selling out limited releases left, right and centre. Their latest expression is the second permanent addition to their growing line of specialty coffee liqueurs, pushing in a bit of a different direction with cold brew coffee and fourteen distilled and macerated fresh botanicals, including citrus from the brand’s own distillery garden on the Central Coast of NSW. Titled Mr Black Coffee Amaro, the recently released expression is a modern take on the traditional Italian bitter liqueur.... Read More | Share it now!

First off, we’ve got the subversive Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Espresso Roast which plays around with a flavour profile of cold-brew coffee; then we have the Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Rum Cask Finish, a very distinctive expression which should please whisky enthusiasts with its complexity.... As I board his Antarctic ice-breaking yacht that is docked in Sydney Harbour, Metaxa Ambassador and modern-day explorer Mike Horn is sitting in a spacious circular lounge area in the hull of his yacht fresh from a solo-crossing of Antarctica. Next to him is Metaxa Master Distiller Costas Raptis and behind them, through 180 degree windows, the top of the Sydney Opera House reaches over the trees of the Royal Botanic Gardens. It’s an incredible view, and just like Metaxa’s newest release – Metaxa 12 Stars – despite appearing almost elitist and exclusive at first, the environment would soon become a setting of comfort, enjoyment and charm.... Earlier this year we brought you news of a neat new collaboration between Sydney’s Archie Rose Distilling Co. and acclaimed tattoo artist Kian Forreal, better known as Shodai Horisumi. The partnership gave rise to a new series of four rare Japanese inspired gins, the first of which was Horisumi Autumn with a very curious infusion of red miso, sesame seed, and sancho pepper. Now the second release in that series has arrived, continuing to pay homage to the seasons with the name of Horisumi Winter, a gin promising the familiar “scents and emotions” of the colder months.... The fine folk behind Four Pillars have just announced that this year they’ll be bringing back their phenomenal Bloody Shiraz Gin, which last year completely sold out just four months after it was released. To satisfy demand, the gin distillery will be producing even more bottles of the epic gin-wine combo, which takes Four Pillars’ exceptional gin and blends with it with flavour-rich shiraz grapes (that’s about the most simple description possible, but you get the idea)....
